Specific year WJ donor ?

Thx for input especially Cruiser54...I'm definitely going for a WJ booster and M/C swap first thing...hopefully that will be all I need! Just wondering if I need to look for a specific year or if all WJ's run same set-up? I'm a guy that really likes to get it right the FIRST time ! Thanks for your guidance.

LOL. They're just messing with you!!!

I've done both the 95/96 and WJ.

Can you double flare brake lines? Cut some firewall metal? File brake booster rods and drill them?

If so, you're good to go.

This simple and very very effective....I used a 96 xj booster works just as good.

On my 91, I did not have to clearance the firewall or modify the brake rod with the 95/96 swap

NAPA and Autozone near me both have kiosks with little adapter hard lines, eg SAE double flare on one end and metric bubble flare on the other end, so you don't even have to make them if you can find what you need there. This way you can keep your old proportioning valve block so you don't have to change the ends on your main hard lines.

Correct on the modification of the firewall.

WJ versus 95 to 96 XJ booster

Actually, the WJ booster is in some ways easier than the 95 to 96 XJ.

I've done both.

XJ, you don't have to mess with the firewall. No big deal anyway.
But, you have to move the washer reservoir. And, once the original booster comes out, the bracket inside the cab moves and makes it a bear to install the new booster.

WJ you have to bend or cut the firewall lip, but don't move the washer bottle.
As an added bonus, the mounting studs of the WJ booster are a bit smaller and it's easier to get in.
Another bonus with the WJ is that it has FLEXIBLE lines from the master cylinder that make putting things together MUCH easier.

And, WJ boosters are newer and easier to find…..

Yep its well worth the effort. Many a cars rear bumpers have lived to see another day because of the upgrade. Or in my case rear trunk and window.

That's a fact.

I think it was your insistence about what a great upgrade this was, that I did it.
