A WJ knuckle swap will get you better brakes and better steering.

Best bang for the buck is the 1999 to 2004 WJ Grand Cherokee booster and master cylinder.

Looks like I'll search for a late WJ donor..research showed the later Akebono calipers to be more desirable.. do you guys agree? Also, any other pieces I might want to pull off a WJ to upgrade my old XJ ? Thx guys, your input is much appreciated!

If you got money to burn http://www.tandrperformance.com/braking.html the wj swap is a big swap you gotta change your track bar the steering linkage and few other things to get to it work.

I think once you do the WJ booster/master, you might not be in such a hurry to do anything else.

Got an 8.25 Chrysler rearend?

For the pads use "HAWK" brand they are worth the extra money.

Yep.

I have done upgraded front pads.

Helped a bit.

Did rear discs on the XJ. Helped more.

Added the booster/master to the MJ. Helped a ton!!! Made me not want to bother with rear discs. Kind of a pain on a dana 44 anyway. On an 8.25 it's very easy like my XJ.

Added the booster/ master to the XJ and holy moly.

So, what I'm saying, is that after doing these things one by one, the booster/master is the single best improvement you can do. Not by a little bit. By about 3 times anything else.

THX

I've got a D44 rear...so do you suggest the M/C and booster first and possibly calipers/knuckles later or not at all? Was hoping to leave the drums on the 44 but wonder how the WJ master cylinder will work out with the rear drum brakes ? Experienced input appreciated.. Thx guys!

I have a 90 MJ with the booster/master on it with a Dana 44. Works so well I kinda gave up on rear discs for it......

That the answer you were looking for?

I did a 95-96 booster/MC swap and then Centric calipers and rotors with Black Magic pads, brakes feel good could be better, intend on swapping my 8.25 to discs at some point

The rear discs are a nice addition and give better pedal feel.

You guys use upgraded brake hoses?

So the GC Booster and master are bolt on, no changes need to be made? Does it matter which engine the donor has?

If it don,t involve a lot of work it cant be a good upgrade.
