Blinker issues
I recently installed a push start button on my XJ, and ever since I my blinkers haven't been working right. I followed this write up ( https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/pu...w-o-key-98963/ ) and PM the creator but with no response. But since it is my DD I would like to get this problem resolved ASAP.
When my new switch is on both rear blinker lights stay on. But when I turn on my right blinker, the left ones turn off and the right lights blink as they should. but when I turn on my left blinker it doesn't blink, and the same with my hazards, they don't blink, they just stay lit. I I haven't been able to pin point the problem and I followed the write up to the T. (minus removing the locking plate because I'm still putting my key in for now.)

I think it's fairly obvious you got the wrong wires.
The write-up you followed was for a '94, you have a '96 - there's no guarantee the wires are the same color, or even go the same places.
You need to get a wiring diagram for your exact year, and figure it out.
That mod is kinda scary to me, looks like a recipe for underdash fire. It looks like he's backfeeding into the ACC circuit from a different circuit. Without having a proper wiring diagram, and knowing what you are hooking into, you have no idea what is going on.
I suggest you put it back the way it was, until you get a wiring diagram to know what you are doing.
