Default Best leaf packs?

I bought a slightly used 6.5 pack last year. It's not working out very well. Having never bought a new leaf pack, I was wondering where the best places are. I see TNTCustoms has a 3.5 for $180 each. Rusty's is $249 for the pair, and IRO is like $320. I haven't heard a lot of good things about Rusty's though.

Where else?

My apologies. I'm asking what some places are that sell quality leafs.

I have these in storage, but according to the PO, they're a bastard pack. And I've been told bastard packs don't ride very well.

those packs don't look too bad actually. kind of hard to tell from just a picture, but it doesn't look like it has an add a leaf. and it looks like a pretty mild arch. they almost look stock. i would try them out personally, could save you a few hundred if they work out. just a little labour on your part to find out.

I've got rustys 3.5" packs on my 91. Good stuff. But I would never pay that kind of shipping again.

Have you looked at Old Man Emu (OME) a lot of people like them. I think they come as high as 3". Then you could use shackle relocators and extended shackles to get the rest of the lift. Should ride good and articulate great.

That'd be perfect if they'd work out. I'd definitely love to save some money. I'll go through and use them then!

Thanks

I missed that. I'd try those out first. Go for it!

I had basically the same question. Mine was more based on the stiff ride and lack of articulation from my thick BDS AAL packs.

I posted this:

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/st...lation-170322/

Its like 5 pages, but lots of knowledgeable folks posted, and got some good info to me.

I'm thinking I'll end up with a XJ/MJ combo and relocation brackets.

Hope some of this helps out.

How much lift are you trying to get?

I have doubts that any 6.5" leaf pack is going to "work out very well".

I would try the bastard pack with longer shackles and shackle relocators first.

I lifted up to 6.5''. A friend was selling his slightly used 6.5 pack with less than 2k on them for like $200. Not wanting to pay shipping, I went with it. The stock shackle sucked. And since I was already at 6.5, I was limited with what I could do to fix it. I ended up getting leaf sliders, which helped a bit, and improved my flex a little, but the roughness is still there (go figure). So now I'm going back to my old pack, and ordering IronMan4x4's adjustable shackles and relocation kit. He's apparently coming out with a new design on July 7th, so I'm going to wait.

I'm going to try the bastard pack, see how it goes, then go from there. I'm positive it'll be better than what I have now.

Deaver! Well, if money wasn't an issue haha.

In your situation, I'd go one of those 3.5" leaf packs, Iron Man 4x4 adjustable shackles and relocators

I was having the issue of buying leads a few months ago.

LUCKILY I actually called 4wheelparts.

Pro comp 3.5" springs about 105 each and tax...save a lot of shipping and they are fair cheap to start.

I've enjoyed mine for the past few months.

RE 3.5" leaf springs, 2" lift shackle and Froelich Low Profile Shackle Relos. I just installed yesterday, so I assume it will be settling a bit.

The IRO leafs are actually really nice. They work really well and are very well built. Im not sure where they are manufactured but for at least the 3.5" pack, they are 7 leaf and mil wrapped. Other than alcan or deaver, I like the IRO the best.
