Thanks everybody for the input. Liking the Dorman pipe. Have used there products in the past. I got a stock renix engine bolted into my HO so there probably isn't any point into dumping 400 bucks into a header. Has anybody tried wrapping there pipe in the XJ to keep the heat down?

When you changed the headers, did you also put in new mounts? Bad mounts will crack any header, or manifold. Puts too much stress on the exhaust system...

I would rethink the Borla header. I took one off of the motor I'm working on now, and it was cracked at the collector. Guess why? Bad mounts. Also, after handling the Borla, and then the Gibson, the Borla feels cheaply made, the Gibson definitely is beefier and better constructed.

The Borla I removed had heat wrap, and let me tell you this, it was fraying and not in the best shape. You can't pressure wash it at all or it crumbles off. If you don't plan on pressure washing your undercarriage, it's probably okay, but if you do wrap, make sure you have a stainless manifold or header, it can trap water and rust underneath. I was going to re-wrap the Borla, but after removing the old wrap (pain in the *** and very messy BTW, and it's fiberglass so be aware) and finding the cracks, I decided the stainless ceramic coated was the way to go. Just my .02

I have the Gibson SS Ceramic coated. Very happy. Helps keep the under hood temps down. Would buy again.

Also like this Rugged Ridge 'revolver' clone. I have it on RaceJeep and it also works well.

So it seems that banks, Borla and apn/atp have all had either trouble with fitment or issues with cracking. Which goes back to my original statement saying they're all basically the same, ones just shiney and more expensive haha does anyone have any criticizim of Gibson either fitment or cracking related?

Fitment was perfect. Can't speak to any cracking yet, as it isn't in the XJ yet. Will post updates periodically after some usage.

Just tried to install my ATP for a 99 xj and had to beat a dent in the #6 tube so the Intake would bolt up flush. Hoping I don't have an issue with the motor mount against the header when we drop the engine in.

I'm reading this article about differences between the manifold and headers
but now I hear something about shorties and now I wonder,
What is the differences between headers and shorties ?

I also saw some mandrel bent headers for sale..
Are those any better ?

Mandrel bent is the way to go. It is a process of tube bending that not only keeps the bends smooth and uniform, but prevents the tube from collapsing.

What's the major differences in blocks? I'm pulling this up for my 2000 and I don't have Gibson option. But it's also giving me 3 port X2 manifolds... ??? I wanna order me a Gibson for that price ha

It isn't the blocks, it's the emissions, 2000 and 2001 have CA emissions that have 2 cats on the bottom of the manifold/header. I don't believe Gibson makes a header for these years, they only make them for 91-99 model years...

EDIT: Found these from Rugged Ridge...

Try a Google search, you may find others...
