Personally I am installing a YORK 12c A/C Compressor converted to Air Compressor, all while keeping my current A/C, it will put out more air CFM than my 110/220v Craftsman Air Compressor I use in the garage.
But probably not idea for running air lockers and air horns. More tires and air tools.

This Link covers everything you want to know except mounting it in a XJ
Here is a diagram showing the setup from the above link
I have not installed mine yet, but I have a York 210 (biggest CFM) compressor with a v-belt pulley, Originally I was going to get the Alternator Dual Pulley from Kirby Enterprises, but it got dang expensive (I think it was $150 shipped - use to be $60+ shipping), so instead I bought a new serpentine pulley/clutch for $85 for the York
I got the Spectre Cowl intake, which allowed me to remove my airbox, so I can move my battery to the drivers side and use the Battery Space for the York Mounting (This is how Kirby Did it)
Kirby Enterprises no longer offers a bracket for the XJ... so
MY PLAN is to Fab/Weld up a bracket the uses the current alternator mounting bracket block mounting locations, and a plate slipped under and on top of the current A/C bracket that I can bolt the York Compressor to next to the A/C Compressor, then move the Alternator up higher but under it (or next if room and use a free spinning pulley to S it around. (to keep it out of the mud)

This looks similar to my air manifold and equipment I have collected (aluminum manifold, gauge, pressure cutoff for compressor, and a pressure safety valve, its mostly purchased on eBay. Also coming out of the compress the air is hot and its suggested to use a heat rated hose, I plan on using a braided hose with a backflow preventer valve. Plus I got a portable air tank free from a buddy.

Not sure what brackets they include, but this seems like a decent deal for a York 210 setup with 200 amp alternator included - http://www.ebay.com/itm/YORK-210-ONB...dW8FHH&vxp=mtr
I just installed a Viair OBA system a few months ago. I also purchased their regulator and various fittings to run my air locker as well as a remote mount air chuck kit so I have an external hose mount to run air tools without needing to open the hatch. Thing works badassssssssss. Runs air tools no problem. Takes a bit to fill the 2.5 gal tank but the guys at Viair said I could always add a second compressor if I need added performance.
Here's the kit I run http://www.viaircorp.com/oba-heavy.html
Out of the box this kit is NOT ready to run air lockers. You need a regulator kit and a few extra fittings/adapters. The airline for airlockers is different than what Viair uses.... which sucks because I have a ton of viair line and no extra ARB line.
I previously had an old school ARB compressor to run my air locker and a custom wiring harness which is ran to my dash where I have a daystar replacement vent which uses two rocker switches - one to control the compressor and the other to operate the locker solenoid. Pretty slick IMO and super clean. Here's the vent http://www.quadratec.com/products/12...kc0aAtrK8P8HAQ
