Default Best 4" lift kit for price?

Sorry for posting this here, I know I should probably just reply to the existing thread about lifts however it seems questions can get lost in the sea of replies and other questions fairly quickly.

Anyway, I've been researching different lift kits for my 99 XJ and am having trouble narrowing down the options. I'm looking for a 3-4.5 inch lift that’s not ridiculously expensive (under $500) and either easy to install myself or relatively cheap to have done by a professional.

Note: Currently I'm on 235's however am planning to get some 31's soon (probably after lift).

Thanks for the help!

Don't buy from Quadratec. They are stupidly overpriced.

Look at seriousoffroadproducts.com

Many people use Rubicon Express lifts and like them a lot

I run RE 3.5" Springs on my XJ with Bilstein 5100 shocks. It rides great and performs well also. I currently have the stock upper control arms and tuff country fixed lower arms from the previous owners lift. (I have Teraflex Adjustable Uppers and Lowers that are not installed yet ) here it is on 33's its sitting at 3.75" in the front and 4.25 in the rear after 1 1/2 years and I have a heavy winch bumper, winch, sliders, and gas tank skid.

What are your rear springs? I had the RE 3.5" coils and leafs, and had to add JKS 2"shackles and a 2" spacer to fit my 33x12.50's, even with it cut to the max. Or are you running 33x10.50's?

Sorry to hijack your thread, but another question for Tom. Building another 2000 Jeep right now that will be for hunting and also medium type wheeling, will be running 33x10.50's also and want to keep the lift low for the lots of highway driving to get to the hunting spots. question is how well does it ride with the extra bumpstop? It seems like they would bottom out hard

On he road you won't hit the bumpstop at all. I mainly rock crawl so when I hit them I can't really tell . I have done a few high speed runs before hitting 65mph the Xj just kinda floated along.

How might something simple like this work?

http://www.trailmastersuspension.com...fMTM3730-40013

or

Rough Country 670N2 - 3-inch Suspension Lift Kit with Premium N2.0 Series Shocks for Jeep: Cherokee XJ 4WD : Amazon.com : Automotive Rough Country 670N2 - 3-inch Suspension Lift Kit with Premium N2.0 Series Shocks for Jeep: Cherokee XJ 4WD : Amazon.com : Automotive

Also, how do simple spacer kits like the following work? It is much cheaper, so if it would lift 3" that might work for me since I’ll only be doing light off roading

Spacer Kit:
Amazon.com: Daystar KJ09127BK Comfort Ride 3" Leveling Front and Rear Coil Spring Spacer Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: Daystar KJ09127BK Comfort Ride 3" Leveling Front and Rear Coil Spring Spacer Kit: Automotive

So still a little confused. What is EVERYTHING required to do a suspension lift?

For example, if I were to get this 3" kit (http://www.trailmastersuspension.com...fMTM3730-40013), I would also need sway bar links correct? Also, how does a single Add-a-leaf raise the suspension by 3"? I'm confused because the description says it includes everything you need to increase ground clearance.

I would like to avoid having to get a SYE. I've heard up to 4" lifts don't change the driveshaft angle enough to require a SYE.

Would I need bump stop extension (not even sure what these are/for)?
