If I might add one thing the Dual Steering Stabilizers aren't needed at all and if added would be for show only and something else to be damaged on the trail. On my 4W4 trucks I needed them but if my XJ had not came with one on it I would not have replaced the bent one when I got it. Not trying to tell you how to build your XJ just a heads up on what most all do.

Om my XJ one of the most improvements made in a single upgrade were the Gears and Detroit Lockers by far. I had been running the stock 3.55 gear with the 33x12:50x15's for a while and it was a dog on the highway as well as off road plus a MPG increase about 4-5 mpg hiway when switched to the 4.56's.

When you have both differentials locked its a whole different 4W4 off road with all 4 tires digging for sure. I did both lockers and gears at the same time being same amount of work involved and the shop charged $200 to do both a no brainer and with the D30 using the locker did not require a new center carrier either. I bought my gear kits includes both sets and master install kits for each from Rustys Off Road $4XX for them and they have Motive gears. I have used the Motives in racing apps for quite a few years up to 1500HP so should be good for the XJ.

I'm running on stock axles so far and no problems the rear is the stronger one offered a Chy 8.25 29 spline, nothing trussed or sleeved.

Thanks I'm running 35s so I was thing of going 488 gears and I need one more locker I have the rear just need the front. I got the duel steering stabilizers cause of the 35s and the steel rims and I thought it would help and it was only and extra 40 bucks so being new at this I figured 40 bucks wasn't gonna make or break the build so y not

The 4.88's are correct for the 35"'s I wish that I had gone with them instead of the 4.56's because I may go to 35's next time myself. You may be surprised at how strong the stock D30 is unless you really beat it to death. The front locked amazed me at how well it did over the open ever did before.

Same here, It seems like Fred & I were at the same stages when it comes to regearing & tires. I just upgraded to 35's and the 4.56 really aren't that bad. It may have been a bit quicker off the line with 4.88 but compared to my 33's & stock gears it's really nice. OP, post up some picks of your rig. You've got boxes of jeep **** sittin there...
