Beefier upgrade for intermediate steering steering column shaft?

Like a decade ago it took quite a bit of trial and error to find what was causing the play in my steering.

It turned out to be the intermediate steering shaft or column. The connections had plastic and seemed designed to wear down and cause play in the steering so it would give you that old truck vibe.

It was a $50 fix back then. But now it’s loose again and I'm leaning towards putting something stronger in there this time if possible. Anything beefier I can swap in?

Btw, My heartfelt thanks for your website and access to the FSMs, cruiser54. Thanks for not turning this into a bleepin’ facebook group. I miss all the forums that used to exist.
