Default Back Spacing for a Wider Stance?

I have seen information on this for guys who have lifted their jeeps. But what about just a upcountry 1" lift with 235/75/15s? I'm having a hard time finding pictures on how this looks but how about 3.75 to 4 back spacing? What wheel size would be necessary?

This guy ran 4" and 235s. Not sure if his tires rub.

with a 1" lift you can get 30" tires (if you remove the flares and cut & fold that is, imo 235s would look to small), and use 3.75" backspacing to get the stance you want. with 31x10.50 tires and 4" BS i was barely sticking out of the fender flare, so i'm guessing 30x9.5 with 3.75 would be about the same.

what you have to keep in mind is that in the pic above the jeep has no fender flares, which makes the tire stick out even more, since it would be covered with the flares.

edit. from looking at this thread you can get an idea of what 1 to 2" looks like with 235s and 30"

Thanks for the info, I didn't even notice the fenders were missing, wow. I thought 30's may rub with 1" inch? New shocks/leafs are on too so it's pretty stiff.

As we went over in your other thread, 30s are basically the same thing as 235/75r15 only they cost more. Just don't even cobsider 30s unless you like throwing money away haha. And no 235s will not look small. I have them on right now with a 2 inch lift. Looks fine

235/75 are closer to 29", might not seem that big of a deal but it's the same difference with 30" and 31". also 235 millimeter equals 9.2 inch, which is also smaller than the width of the 30x9.5 tire. the difference is minimal but it's still there. like with backspacing, the difference between 4" and 3.75" is minimal, but 3.75" sticks out way more than 4", still only a 1/4" difference.

and again, the fenders are cut in the picture he posted, which would make them (235/75) look small, at least that's my personal take on it, and if you visit the thread i linked people seem to agree. of course it's a pretty subjective matter. i bet you still have your fenders on though, which doesn't make it look small.

if you don't cut it will rub, that's for sure. cutting the fenders + 1-1.5" lift would fit 30". i was assuming you were gonna cut the fenders because of the pic.

If I did NOT cut the fenders, got a set of 235s, and got a wheel with 3.75-4 back spacing, would do you think there would be rubbing with the wheels being out further?

i sell tires at the moment for a living...people come in all the time saying they want a bigger tire from their 235s....bring out the same tire in a 235 and a 30 and theres literally no difference, yet you pay a premium like there is one. Once people see that they go with 235s again or 31s. Most 235s measure to 29.2 or 3 while 30s are 29.7...the width is even more miniscual....it's just not worth it when 30s are $20 more each unless you just want your tires to say 30s on the side. At least with 31s you can tell a difference.
