Ford F350 4x4 78-79 Ford F250 high GVWR 78-79 Ford F350 4x4 1985.5-1991.5 for kingpins Ford F350 4x4 1991.5-1997 for balljoints Matching D60 rear would be up to 1985.5 for the 250 and 350. Sterlings were phased in around 1985.5 and the best ones are 1991.5 and up for the gen 2 10.25. For a D60 metric (8 on 170mm) F350 4x4 1999+ F250 4x4 2004+ The F250s 1999-2004 carried a D50 solid axle while it isn't bad its still not a D60. The rear out of any of these trucks is a sterling 10.50 metric. |
I would go with those, and get a king pin front if possible. the ball joints would be ok under our jeeps but king pins are better.

I know this has all been covered, but what is the absolute best d60's to get fron and rear. and vehicle to pull from? I plan on going fullwidth when it gets warm again, and the piecing process would be nice to get ahead on!

Yes I read all that, just wanting to go full widths and never have to mess with axles again basically. So I'm wanting to know the best way/trucks to swap from and everything, I've wheeled all my life but just starting my first real build

I never mentioned D60 rears hmmm will have to get a list out for those. Might make a FAQ about fullwidths when I get some time.
really depends on the size of tire you ultimately want to be limited by. I would start by narrowing down the biggest tire you want to run, adding a size or two to it, and then using that as a guid for what axles to look at. D44 fully built with alloy shafts 37-38"s, D60 can handle 44's fully built... as for rears look into the D60,FF14B,Sterling 10.25,Dana 70, and if your going to run a D44 front then a 9" is a good option for the rear. all made in full width. all have then + and - . |
