Hi guys I am doing a swap to a 1998 AX15 with the 98 NP231 tc from the ba10. I know the slip yoke changed from internal to external but did it change in length at all? Will my driveshaft from the 87 need to be shortened? Currently the Jeep is at stock height. Would it help to get the driveshaft from the 98 donor? Not sure if they are different in length.

Not sure if it matters at all but I have a stock d44. Any help is appreciated as I was going to try to start and finish this on the weekend!

Yes, grab the donor's rear drive shaft. The DS-side slip yoke changed.

Length-wise, if you have a D44 and the donor has a C8.25 you're in luck. Length will line up close enough (within a small fraction of an inch). If the donor has a D35 for some reason, you might be better off running the newer slip yoke on your original drive shaft.

I do not have the donor but there is a junk yard nearby which has a driveshaft from a 96 with a 8.25. So I can use my driveshaft with the slipyoke from the 98? Would this make it a tad bit longer?
