Default AW4 Shift Upgrade? TransGo Shift Kit

My AW4 has been (ever so) slowly getting worse to drive. I'd like to understand how the torque solenoid works and goes bad- anyone know?

The symptom: At a stop, there's still some forward force that when I let off the brake it wants to creep forward without throttle. Some of this is normal, I know, but lately its getting worse. It will almost climb a hill now-without any throttle.

I already have the solenoids from a friend who thought his '94 Toyota 4Runner solenoids were going out. As I understand, and from pictures, they're exactly the same. Right?

Anyone have experience with the TransGo 340-HD2 kit? There's a great thread on it here: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthrea...1088057&page=3 but I'd like some more reviews, esp. on a '97-'01 XJ. I'll admit I'm a little intimidated by the potential complexity of the install so if anyone has experience there I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I did a Transgo valve body shift kit on a Mustang. I am a shade tree mechanic, timing belts, fuel pumps and things like that. Different auto tranny. Worked great for one day. Next day it wouldn't shift to reverse, until I cursed at it and sprinkled voodoo water on it. I thought I could do it, but should have left it to the pros. Be very confident in your abilities on a daily driver.

Well, my flexplate isn't cracked. On the one hand its a relief but on the other I'm still not sure what the issue is. Is there such a thing as a solenoid not fully actuating? I feel like its just kinda backing off when I come to a stop.
