Default Automatic Shift ****

Hey guys! Always see people changing their shift ***** on manuals to cool things like pool *****. As you know, the automatic shifter requires the "button" to be pressed before the truck can be put into gear. How would I go about either disabling that button or does anyone know of a "cool" shifter with that button? Thanks a lot!

auto parts stores carry a couple that work with the button, but if you want the button gone remove the plastic cover piece and shave all the lock tabs.

thats what i did but not to have a "cool" shifter handle.

Are you mocking me with the "cool"? LOL!! I couldn't think of another thing to call it! But it seems as though when the brake is depressed, that's the only time I can push the button in. When the brake IS NOT depressed, I can't shift. Will shaving those tabs solve this too?

not mocking just quoting and it should solve the problem since the lock will still be there it just will have nothing to lock on to.

shaving the tabs makes it so you dont have to press the button. so it no longer matters if you "could" press the button

Okay. Just ran outside and looked, my shifter is all metal. When I press the button a hole mechanism move down shaped like a J. Should I just shave this? And the other thing, how do I take that handle off and screw another one on?

shave that or the tabs it locks against, and to remove the handle just pull up really hard and watch out you don't hit yourself in the face(done it) and whatever handle you put on it needs a set screw, there are no threads on the arm.

I may just shave that (pic below). But, when I take that piece off, with out hitting myself in the face , What about the linkage that goes through the shaft?

a screw to hold the new handle in place. it won't stay on unless it has a screw in the side to hold it

I'll just have to pull harder. Do you know what diameter the shifter is?

You can always put some threads on the shaft if you want to put a threaded shifter **** on
