the p/o modified my jeep with toggles for auto gear lockout, has a switch for 1st, the torque converter lockout, and overdrive, how the .... do i get rid of it, it does not want to be in first without the switch on

 

It really depends on how he wired it. You will need to trace the wires back. Find the splice and just put the harness back to stock.

Here is how the AW4 works. It has 2 solenoids. The solenoids open up valves for ATF to flow and switch gears. This is the sequence.
