Ive searched and searched for a thread dedicated to tires, and ive found threads for the cheapest website, or the cheapest place to get them, or if one specific tire is better then the other. But lets start a thread saying which tire from our personal experience is the best for what situation. I am currently looking to get 33x12.5 r15s pretty soon, and was thinking about goodyear wrangler mt/r w/ Kevlar...ive had goodyear wranglers before, and i have liked them, but i think we should compare all different tires and which tire is best for which situation.

I will be in sand/mud and some rocks...and its a daily driver...all opinions are welcome.... 5.5 inch lift w/ long arm and locked 8.25.

 

I've been running TrXus mt for 4 years now. I love them off road and in the snow, hella grip. However nit the best for daily driver. They are very aggressive and don't balance well. Tread life is short on road. For now I'm going to do some AT's and contemplating another set of TrXus for week ends and winter.

there are threads dedicated to just lifts, and threads dedicated to just about everything else, i was just thinking a thread dedicated to just tires would be nice to see all the different types and applications and experiences. just like a simple version, "just tires"...no questions about control arm lengths, or sye questions, or what type of brake lines are longer...

 

I run kelly safari tsr's, they are really inexpensive and they do great for my needs. Mine is a DD(high schooler)/off road toy. I love them, smooth on road, incredibly grippy in the mud. I'm going to 35's at the end of summer(31's now) and I fully intend on buying the same tire.

 

if i where buying tires right now, my first two choices would be bfg km1's or firestone destinations. not that i don't like the other tires just the two i've seen perform the best when wheeling in mud and general trails(not including tsl's, boggers, iroks etc because he wanted a good street tires as well). one of the tires that look really nice that i've never had personal experience with is the Super Swamper Trxus MTs. they looks like they would perform well offroad and have a tight lug so it should perform well onroad as well. just question how long they would last on a dd.

 

i have heard good things about trxus mts. im still considering the goodyear mt/rs though.

 

I have heard that the mtr's dont stick to rocks over here on the east coast as well as they do on the west coast.

 

I bought a set of 34x12.5 Trxus MT's used (50% or so left) and have been running them for just over a year now. They seem to do quite well in the mud, pretty decent in the snow (even with being worn), and crawl alright over the many random things I tend to run over . Surprisingly even being used they seemed to balance up reasonably well, and aren't overly loud or rough on the street/highway.

My XJ is my DD, but only sees not even 10,000mi a year (as I have a car for long hauls) so I'm planning to run the Trxus MT's again, or TSL's Swampers or Boggers for my next tire..

I'd never heard of them before until I found mine. I have a buddy who runs the same ones as mine (only newer) on his long-armed ZJ and seems pretty happy with them. I couldn't tell you the average lifespan on the tire on a driver though when bought new..

 

i currently have Firestone destination and do not like them at all. when i upgrade to 31's im looking at anything but those. lol just a lot of bad experiences with them. thats my two cents

 

the only thing is, the trxus mts are more expensive then the goodyear wrangler mtrs. has anybody used mtrs? and can they say anything about the lifespan or how well they do in mud/sand?

 

these are retreads but a lot of people have had good luck with them. 124 a tire and they look like a cross between the old wrangler and toyo m/t. you can get them with their kedge grim for better onroad traction too. https://treadwright.com/p-106-285-75...dog-m-t-c.aspx
