Default Anyone running reservoir shocks!!???

Hey guys the shocks on my xj are about shot. I have a 6.5 inch long arm kit and have been shopping around looking at reservoir shocks. Most ads don't say how much of a lift kit they are compatible with or say 4" lift compatible. Anyone running reservoir shocks with 6"-8" of lift!?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Remove your existing shocks.
Flex the suspension and measure for the Extended and Ccollapsed lengths you need.

I ran Bilstein 5160's on my last XJ and had an awesome ride (the 4-link out back helped too... ).

the reason they don't say which lifts they go with is a lot are for fairly custom applications. and they're expensive if they're decent ones

why do you want reservoir shocks?

I do all my shopping at filthymotorsports.com

The added oil in the res helps prevent shock fade.

Let's get this out of the way. Mostly it's for looks. Remotes look cool. People just need to admit it.

That said there are a lot of benefits that most people will never use.

More travel
Very tunable
Cooler running(less fade)
Rebuildable.

But the number one reason for remote reservoir shocks on mall crawlers is? ..............here it comes...................wait for it..........................wait..............

They are COOL AS HELL!

I got plenty of use out mine before I sold my rig. If I don't go coil-overs I'll get 'em again.

I like the 5160's. they're a little less speedy than say a shiny fox 2.0
5160's would be a reasonable choice

I will say that the 5160's are a great bolt-in addition to our XJ's. But, they are not consumer-rebuildable, like 7100's or Fox2.0. For a little more money and valving options, I think a rebuildable shock such as the 7100 or Fox 2.0 etc is a better option.

Not at that price it's not. If you're spending that much on a shock go straight to a 2.5. If you didnt need a 2.5 then you didn't really need a 2.0. Settle for a Bilstein

My jeeps far from a mall crawler lol. The main reason I'm leaning toward reservoir shocks is because of them being rebuildable. I'd rather have the options to rebuild a nicer shock than to keep purchasing new sets over and over again.
