Default Another way to lift?

Has anyone used overload coil over shocks to left their XJ? A friend at work took a '91 Laredo with 4.0/AX15/231 combo, and put these overload springs over his shocks. He said they were cheap, about $25 a set from Amazon.

Here is his setup:
Front:

Rear:

Here are as good of flex shots as I could get on a 15 min break:

Here is his XJ on level ground, how much lift do you think this gives? The tires are 235/75R15's. I know it's not much, but I don't want much either.

Honestly that looks like maybe an inch. Think about it this way: the load of the jeep is on the coil springs, not the shocks. Those little coils around the shocks are not strong enough to take the weight of the jeep off of the coil springs. Maybe some of the weight, giving a little lift, but nothing substantial. Or at least that's what I see.

as said above the weight of the jeep isnt on the shock its on the coil spring. you would be much better off with different coils for a lift

Really, I'm looking for a little more lift then this anyway as I want 31x10.50's. It really rides better then you would think, not sure how that would be long term. It was an interesting way to achieve lift, and I was curious if anyone had tried it before. Thanks for the replies!

Rustys 2" and 3" coils are said to have a soft ride and are $100 last I checked. Good luck!

It also depends on the condition of the leafs or springs mostly leafs. My gf jeep came with those but her leafs were also gone too so the shock was actually lifting it up even with the front. It wasn't till I fought with taking them off. I could bearly compress the shock

How is the rear raised, or, is this just the front? Thanks!

Coils for the front. For the rear, I'd suggest extended shackles, new leaf springs, or an add a leaf/bastard pack if your current leafs are not sagging.
