Another shim thread
I just installed some 3.5" full length AAL's that actually raised it 4". I sure the will sag some in the future down to 3.5" or even 3" would be fine as I put 3" spacers in the front. I had some vibes when I first test drove it, but changed the ujoints and the vibes went away. My problem is that the slip yolk came further out of the t-case than I thought it would and it seems to be only a couple of inches engaged to the output shaft. I'm a little worried about this. If I install some shims (which I should anyway) to correct the pinion angle will this push the yoke back onto the output shaft more? and should I be worried about this condition or am I just being paranoid. It is my wifes DD and don't want her running into problems getting back and forth to work. Also, what sort of pinion angle am I looking for. I have been reading and can't find any definitive answer. I know if you are running a SYE it should point straight at the tcase output, but what about if I keep my slip yoke?

okay thanks for the link. Just to get this straight, it doesn't matter what degree angle it is as long as the angle at the pinion is the same as the angle at the output shaft???? I don't have any vibes at this time, I am more worried about the yoke being too far out off of the output shaft. I am going to make sure my angles are the same, then check the yoke and maybe get the shaft lengthened a little just to be safe. Thanks.

Angle should be = or < than 0*. But as for yoke, post a couple pics, but when doing a HNT SYE you usually only have that much output shaft to work with. Unless I misunderstood post.. Pics/drawing would help..

I think you misunderstood. I don't have a HNT. Just want to keep the original slip yoke if I can. It says in that link that XJ92 gave me that, without a SYE, the angles at the pinion and the output yoke should be eqaul. Something about the vibrations will cancel out if the angle are the same. I'll take some pics when I can. Hopefully tonight when the wife gets home from work. Thanks

pics of angles
Here are some pics of the pinion angle and output shaft angle. They look pretty similar. Not getting vibes so that's cool. but the pic of the output yoke is what bothers me. Is this too far out? Should I extend the DS or install HNT and put new DS on. I have a spare Double Cardan DS in the garage. I wil eventually do it but do you guys think I can get by with this setup for awhile?
