So I went from the headphone jack, 3.5, to rca. Then from the rca I used two potentiometers. You can find them from pac-audio.com. The scu is pac-lc1. I went from the tablet into the first lc1 then split that with y adapters. 1 set went to front and rear inputs of amp and the other set went to another lc1. That was used for bass control and went to the sub input. It's a jl xd7005 5 channel amp btw

That is actually the better way to do it. Maximizing your preout voltage. You can also tie in with steering wheel controls and bluetooth easily. You will have plenty of room in there after altering ac vents.

check out this product. I've used it in that application a few times and love it. Its from axcess. Oeswc-rf is the part number.

I'm thinking about doing this with my iPad mini. But I want to keep the stereo in the dash so I'm going to move everything down one place and relocate the 12v and switches somewhere else. Mainly because I dont have a network connection with it and I still want radio controls, and my hard drive isn't big enough for all my music. Mainly for gps and running some diagnostic apps, plus it'll just look sweet.

Decided to redo the tablet install.
I've been regretting doing a WiFi tablet instead of with a service provider. This new one will be with a Verizon samsung note 10.1 2014 edition. I will be including a lot more pictures with this one, and yes the old one is up for grabs.

Do you have the BackCountry Navigator app? That's what I run on my cheap little Verizon tablet and works perfect for the trail runs I do in AZ.

Abs frame routered to screen size. Extra length for wrapping around to cradle. Bought a dummy display model of the same tablet to destroy during build. Bottom right heated and wrapped around snug to tablet. Trimmed excess on bottom left.
popped out ac vents and trimmed around edges
lightly attached the frame with super glue

Now if you could find a way to control the HVAC with a tablet, it would eliminate those ***** and you could either shift the tablet down or replace the HVAC unit with vents. Either way, it would retain the vents.
