I bought an xj last year, and I decided to put a 5" lift on it from rocky road outfitters. Once I received the stuff I immediately started checking it all. After comparing my new track bar with the old one I noticed something wasn't right. The bar I have on my xj has a heim joint, where as the new one has a ball joint. When I called/emailed pictures they told me I had an aftermarket bracket. I took it to my local off road shop to get an opinion and the guy there told me it looked like it was the bracket and track bar for a tj. If someone could help me out that would be great. I have pictures if they are needed.
Thanks in advance -Jonnie

Backspacing??
im finally getting around to working in my 01 XJ I bought a few years ago. I just picked up the RC 4.5” X-series kit and found a great deal on general AT2 33x12.50 on Craigslist. fenders were trimmed by the previous owner. My question(s) is will I need to replace/change the bump stops (front and rear) and will I need to add wheel spacers for these to fit. I see a lot of comments about backspacing, is that relevant as well. Sorry if these are dumb questions I’m a newbie to wrenching/jeeping
thanks
thanks

what size lift was the jeep before? And you will need new rims that are 3.75 of backspace. You could install spacers with stock rima, but you nees to use high quality ones. They are not a part to skimp out on. You dont want a wheel flying off on the road....but by the time you spend on the spacers, tou could just get new rims for the same or just a bit more.
I went without the lugs though at first and they will run you maybe another $20 but I ordered them up later not feeling comfortable with how my originaly lugs sit against wheel. I think mine came in around $25 for all 4 wheels. I also originaly ordered a spare wheel but it never showed up. I got reimbursed for the cost so my thought is they ran out or suspected that I ordered one too many. Never really looked into it and figured I would just order a new one later. That being said I should probably do that now

Without knowing what wheels and current bumpstop, all we can really say is put the stuff on and measure after it's done to see if everything clear fine. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the wheels are probably fine since most aftermarket steel wheels have increased backspacing, but I can't tell you anything about bumpstop. That's a a case by case situation

Ok guys, I'm right at the end of my floor pan replacement and I'm about to take the plunge. I've got about 1500 to sink into my jeep and I'm starting at the back. I've done all the measurements and it's sitting at about 5.5 inch lift. I really like this height, so what I've come up with so far is this:
4.5 RE extreme leafs
Tom Woods drive shaft + advanced adapters SYE
I'm having a real problem deciding on the shocks for the rear.
Should I just go Bilstein 5100's or should I just spend the couple of hundred for the Fox resevoir? Or is there a better option?
I already know what comes next.... "what are you using your Jeep for?". I want a daily driver that is really capable. I spend as much time as I can down by the river and it's not always pleasant. Not rock crawler, but good on the nasty stuff.

Looks like an aftermarket track bar on there, and looks like the replacement you have is a factory one or at least factory style. If I was putting a 5" lift on my jeep I'd be expecting a good bit of articulation and the tie rod end style will bind up first, then the sideways heim, and the best would be an aftermarket doubleshear mount. You can't use the tie rod end style anymore without buying a new factory style mount since the hole has to be drilled out to put in the heim style end. So you have a few options, leave what's there, buy a new factory flimsy mount and use the new one you got, or buy a new double shear mount and use either the one on there now with spacers or a stronger one.
