Default Airaid Poweraid TBS!?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AID-310-511/ <--- airaid poweraid tbs

ive been recommended this from my fathers friend who drag races and claims it will give me a noticeable power and torque increase, and i have been reading threads on other sites about it, with mix reviews about it.. some say all it does is add a whistling noise, or theres a little power gain that is noticable, or that the MPG is a tad better/worse.

i have a completely stock 98' xj with 170,000k. i was also told not to do anything to the intake besides put a nice K&N drop filter in it and take out the silencer. and to not bore the TB because you risk f**kin up the sensors and how the motor runs.

i just want to see what you guys think about it and is it worth putting on my xj? or suggest anything else that will work/work better

thanks.

Does nothing on a fuel injected motor, besides make a whisting noise.

Only way you'd feel a difference is on a carb'd motor

I run a poweraide on my 99 along with a k&n cai. The only difference I've noticed is a little better response on take offs from a stop. Other then that my milage stayed the same a whopping 10 mpg... Lol The only whistling noise I have is from the k&n sucking air.

bwb440 one thing i noticed is performance and mpg do not go together it's one or the other whatever you do to improve Horsepower will kill you in fuel mileage and whatever you do to improve fuel mileage will kill horsepower.

hmm.. well i kinda thought and was told if you were to achieve awesome airflow, going in and out, then you would create a hotter and more efficient burn in the engine, therefore getting more power. but wouldnt it make sense that if you get a more efficient burn you would get better mileage?
