aged leafs or backspacing?
Hello all. I am having a little trouble with my new tires/wheels on my 97XJ. I have a 3" lift and am running 31x10.5x15 tires on rims with a 3 5/8" backspacing. From the research that I did I shouldn't have had any issues with rubbing/clearance, however my XJ has proven me wrong! The articulation in the rear end will have about 3" left till I hit the bump stops when the tires are as far as they will go (touching the fender flares).
Rear right maxed out and rubbing on fender flares:
Measuring from ground to top edge of wheel well is just under 36" with flare removed and car on level ground:
Measuring from top of tire to edge of wheel well is just over 5 1/2" with flares removed and on level ground:
Is it possible that over the years my leaf springs have started to sag? I believe they are the original leafs that came with the car and they used blocks to raise it. I did loose a little height from the weight of the new rear bumper and tire swing that I installed earlier this summer. Anyone have any recommendations on how to solve this problem?

It has blocks. The blocks are preventing the bumpstop from hitting. Get longer bumpstops or get leafs so you don't need a block

Okay, since the springs are probably shot and are a little spendy I just decided it would be better for me to upgrade to a better lift kit. I got the RE 3.5" super-ride lift kit, without shocks since I just changed them out recently. What would be the best way to extend the bump stops in the rear? I have only found that Tomken makes a bump stop extension kit. Maybe I can look into getting some scrap metal and fabing something up.

Maybe build something like that when you remove the blocks.
