added cooling

anybody ever mounted pusher cooling fans in front of ac condensor yet

I did this on another setup I had... not on a Jeep... BUT I can tell you that pusher fans are harder to clean... and that they are not as effective and a properly shrouded puller fan

so if you can shroud it... then do it

Thats correct, pulling air over a coil will always be more effective than pushing. Shrouded also makes a big difference. Are you trying to solve a cooling issue or do you not think the condenser is getting enough airflow?

freegdr 05-23-2011 01:56 PM

no just adding extra for the really hot days in fl when trailing never run over 200 till yesterday out in the woods never hit 210

freegdr 05-23-2011 01:59 PM

going to keep all factory just thinking a little extra in front cant hurt was thinking about these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2X-UN...mZ180671276368

Do the e-fan upgrade, either dual or triple. Much better airflow for trail riding, plus you get to ditch that power robber mech fan. Could also look into an all metal 3 row radiator. It's technically a stock replacement upgrade so still stock, just better.

im keeping all the factory fans looking for small fans that fit behind the grill insert

Why? The two options I gave you are the best choices, a pusher fan may not give you any added airflow. The stock fans are designed to pull a certain cfm at the pressure drop that the radiator causes. By pushing air in you reduce the pressure drop which CAN cause the stock fans to basically pull less than the stock airflow or equal to it. I haven't seen the fan curves for the stock fans so I don't know, but fans dont work that well with 0 static pressure.

The Efan upgrades DO NOT cool better than the mechanical fan and shroud. Get a HD fan Clutch the correct range T-Stat, make sure the fin in the rad and condenser are clear, and that Coolant is fresh, and stock E-fan is working properly. 200 is a normal temp.

Orly? were talking about trail riding not highway driving. Rpm around idle a lot, mech fan is hardly moving any air at idle.

Hoooper is correct. A push/pull setup will have the fans fighting each other, not improving airflow. The fans' rotation would need to by physically locked together to make this effective at all.

The best option is for an dual/triple e-fan replacement of the stock components.

Even simpler - run a bypass switch for the stock e-fan so you can turn it on when you want, eg. when wheeling, to keep the temps low

Having a fan without a shroud is pointless. Pushing air through the radiator is much less effective than pulling it through.

Ditch the mech fan and run another stock electric fan or get the dirtbound offroad fan kit for 200 bucks.

If you are getting that hot I would flush the system and just run water and water wetter. Just make sure if it gets to freezing temps you have to swap the fluids.

With adding fans you will be making more problems then solving them.

Hoooper 05-23-2011 02:28 PM

93gc40 is right though, 200 isn't very hot, lots of guys on here are running 230 on the trail at peak. IMO that's too hot but 200-210 is fine

freegdr 05-23-2011 02:31 PM

thanks for the input

i would kill to stay under 200 on the trail ive always got my hood popped and the heat blasting which isent fun in the dead of summer my fan shroud is broken but im about to put dual E fans anyway
