Bought a jeep for next to nothin with a cracked head, replacing head with new clearwater head and was wanting to know if I could gasket match the new head to an older gasket and use older exhaust manifold. They have a stainless one on ebay for $150.figured I could use that and maybe squeeze a little more power out of it. Anyone see an issue with this?

99s have different ports than 2000-2001 xjs from what I've read they're about 1/4"-1/2" off. I'm sure others will chime in. 2000-2001 header will not bolt up to older heads the ports will be off and restrict flow...

I bought a 1998 exhaust/intake gasket to check bolt pattern and the only difference I really noticed was the port size.

For some reason the 99 pulled up the same gasket as the 01 and 00. It seems to be quite bit of material that would need to be removed to gasket match to the older header
