Finished painting the inter gauge surround and the cluster is finished. No rewiring but a little bit of cutting and is ready for plug in play with 96 older Cherokees. Will have to wait about a month before I can get the dash core to mount in my Cherokee. I will be going to the JY this Friday but not sure when I will be installing it. 6 day 10hr shifts and not time. I just worked on this little bits at a time when get home.

I really don't feel like messing with any rewiring but just a simple plug and play. most sites I visited in order to do a complete 97+ dash swap you need the engine wire harness and cabin wire harness, the computer and all the sites I seen with the swap is they also installed the newer 4.0 engine. so they basically had the entire donor 97+ Cherokee and just installed it all in the body of their current vehicle. I really don't feel like going through a engine swap as nothing is wrong with my 4.0 HO and I have no way or time or even a garage to do that. If it was the simple of getting the 97+ wire harness and computer I would do that, but not sure how my engine would respond with a different newer computer.

Aftermarket gauges have nothing to do with either wire harness, they stand alone.

Installed the cluster in the 97+ dash I have laying in the shack. Probably not going to install the dash for awhile so I put the cluster in to show what it will look like. The light switch/gauge cluster support will need modded for the cluster to fit since it is thicker then the newer one.

No, I've been working and been having to work on the other vehicles I have. I do have the dash all put together laying in my shack. All it really needs done with it is just installed. The 84-96 dash is easy to remove since you don't have to remove the steering wheel like in the 97+ You can probably cut the cross bar where your knees would hit on the 97+ so it goes over the steering wheel.

1995-1996 owners will probably look better since anything pre 95 just has the small steering Column with no box on it.

However I did get a 96 and 97+ steering Column box cover and may mess around with them.
