Default 96+ rear bumper end cap brackets

I wasn't sure if this should go here,or fabrication so i'll try here first.

When you remove the stock plastic end peices off your stock bumper, your left with these ugly brackets riveted to the quarter panel the plastics sit on at the top.

What is everyone running custom rear bumpers doing about this?Just living with it?Cutting them out?Looking for suggestions on what to do with them.

I'm gonna cut and fold te fenders and do like dukie did and cut and fold back there. As for the bracket, possibly cut em off and compound back any damage. If I find anything out I'll let you know

I know what you mean, I'm not looking to cut all that I just wanna open my fenders up like I did the front

worst case it looks like those brackets only have 3 rivets. Tomorrow my girl isn't gonna be home all day so it's a jeep day for me. I'm gonna look at the brackets and possibly break it off

Exactly,if you figure it out tommorrow make sure and post here and let us all know.If cutting the 3 rivets out is all that's needed that'd be great.

I ground off the rivits, took the metal bracket off, and then ground it smooth. Its been like that for 7 or 8 months. Sorry bout the mud. Its the only pic i have of it.

After the JCR rear bumper, I ground off the rivets and ditched the brackets. I plan to weld up the rivet holes and repaint the lower quarters. I have a plan for modding the rear flares to clean up the look. (Think 84-96 style rear flares made from a set of 97-01 flares. I will post pics when its done). I know a lot use lower quarter armor, but with zero rock here in South Jersey, I don't see the need for them.
