96 Cherokee aftermarket tach...HELP!
I just bought a little sunpro tach for my Cherokee and I am bewildered as to where 1. A good spot to mount this thing would be. 2. Where in the fuse box im supposed to mount the red wire to the neg bat terminal and 3. Where im supposed to attach the green wire to...someone please slap me hard across the face and point me in the right direction. And no..I refuse to do a cluster swap.

Dont have a clue where to mount it..........
Going by memory:
Green wire is the trigger, goes to the coil
Black wire is a ground, any sheet metal
Red wire is Positive from the battery
White wire is dash lights.
Once again, this is by memory.

The dash and instrument cluster is pretty full on my '96. I debated for a while as to where to locate a switch for my aux lights, and then a lot longer for the digital volt meter. The best place for your new tach might be on top of the steering column, left of center in front of the OEM tach (if you had one). If you just had idiot lights instead of gauges, choose carefully so as to not block your indicatore.
Wiring? I suppose the red wire could go into the fuse box under the dash in a spot marked "pwr acc", "acc", or "ign". Check to make sure it isn't powered when the key is "OFF". The green wire will go to the coil (I think). Didn't you get instructions?

Thanks for all your help...the harness coming out of the ignition coil is where the green wire ended up going...the accessory light we hardwired into the power wire and grounded to the frame. I mounted it on the pillar on the drivers side about a quarter of the way up. Works great. For future reference type 96 Cherokee tach install on youtube. One of our fellow jeep enthusiasts graciously made a video on how to do it.
