Default 94 to 89 underhood wiring swap

Wondering if anyone has done this or can tell me if it can be done. I have an 89 pioneer w/ 4.0 and 5 speed that I drive, and a 96 country w/ 4.0 and AW4 for parts,
I am looking to swap the engine from the 96 to the 89. I would like to use the underhood wiring harness so I can use the 96 ECM.
The fuse block is the same, and the plug at the firewall is also looks to be the same.
Any Info is greatly appreciated.

Its been done but I think most people use the entire harness from the donor jeep.

Curious, why do you want to go from Renix to OBD-1?

To use the ECM that is programed for the HO 4.0, also all the connectors would be correct for the newer engine and charging system.

You toasted your charging gear? The Renix ECU will drive the newer block just fine. No reason to swap the entire engine bay out.

I didn't toast my charging system, just thought if it worked, I could change over everything under the hood, charging system, cooling system, etc.
With using the Renix ECM, would I still see a power increase with the HO block?

The slight bump of 5 HP? Yes, that's due to physical changes in design. The Renix ECU is probably the most adaptive of the XJ computers. I'd definitely keep it and set it up right. Switching to open cooling is a good idea though.
