94 4.0 xj HO and 2000 xj pos compatibility
After the recent discovery of the cracked head on my 2000 xj motor I began a search for a new motor. I located a 94 or 95 xj HO motor locally that runs well. He is asking 400$ for it. I am considering taking that motor and head, using the coil packs from my 2000 and the intake. Will this work or am I totally out in left field?

the block is essentially the same, the head will not work with youre 2000. the 2000 head has smaller exhaust ports to warm up the precats. the exhaust manifold will not work with the 99 and older 4.0s, i also beliece certain sensors are different.

It can be done but things to keep in mind. 95's have a dizzy so you have to figure out a way to plug that hole and a way to mount the coil pack. Also the 00 have multiple o2 sensors that your gonna have to work around. I believe there are 2 in the exhaust manifold itself.

I am just getting into this project. I think I have a plan for the coil packs but I'm not sure about the O2 sensors. What is typically done with them in this scenario? Do people just use aftermarket ignition setups and bypass all that crap?
I'm now also exploring the possibility of a Stroker.

I am guessing the bearings are shot in my 00 because i have low oil pressure due to coolant being in the oil. Plus I don't want another junk 0331 head that will just crack again in the future and put me right back in the same situation. That's my whole reason for the rebuild of a different year.
