92 cherokee engine swap for 96 grand cherokee engine
alright guys my qustion.. ihave a 92 cherokee i'm thinking of swaping the engine for a 96 grand cherokee. now i know 96 is "obd11" and my 92 is "obd1" so my qustion... if i ONLY take the block and head will my prats bolt up, for example manifold or distributor cap. got a good deal wanna see if i coul make it work -thanks

I realize this is an older thread but I am anout to do a 96 to 92 swap what all am I going to have to do to make this work?

i did a bunch of research and though its not go 100 percent it may help...1 the 92 block wont line up with the 96 motor mounts 2. i've read and been told the 96 uses metric vs standerd on some parts 3. you will be grinding and making brackets. and the of course 96 is obd two and 92 is obd1... frome my understanding the only thing in common is the block is a 4.0...if i'mwrong correct me by all means. hope it helped and good luck
