Default 8.25 Axle Shaft Swap

Alright first off I apologize if this is a stupid question, i have not done a whole lot of differential work and I have searched all over without being 100% certain on an answer.

As the title says, I want to swap axle shafts in an 8.25. It's a 95 so it has 27 spline shafts, and I want the 29 spline. What's all required to do this swap and what should all be done?

Also, once I swap shafts would I be ok to use a locker that is designed for 29 spline axle? Just want to be 100% sure and get as much info as possible being diff work isn't something to mess up.

Thanks guys!

what I get from a quick look the carrier needs to be machined to match the 29 carrier and new bearings ring and pinion and set up new gears

I think I would look for a whole 8.25 29 spline axle
check this one out

it would probably just be like a spartan or a lokka. I'm thinking of putting an ox up front in the future

Found an answer. Basically lunch box lockers require the existing carrier. Better lockers like ARB replace the carrier

You have to replace the carrier, so you would need a full case locker to make it work. A lunchbox will not work

As said a lunch box such as Spartan or lokka doesn't replace the carrier. I'm pretty sure you just get a 29 spline carrier and shafts but you're probably best off swapping a new axle in unless you're regearing it at the same time.

A full case locker for 29 spline shafts is what you need. Your choices are limited to an ARB or a Detroit Locker.

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't lockers such as ox, elocker, zip, or grizzly work as well?

Ox would work and Eaton doesn't make an E locker for the 8.25
