I have a 6.5" lift with drop brackets...works fine. The only problem I'm having is that the steering feels looser than it did with out the brackets..oh and don't drill your holes incorrectly on the unibody for the gussets, if they're an 1/8" off, they will creak and squeal like an old 70s chevelle or something lol...

On the long arm vs. bracket argument...I had an RE long armed xj before this one, the old was totaled...I decided to go with the brackets this time for cost reasons. The ride is damn near identical, flex is pretty comparable too, but long arms are a bit better...

So i was doing research, and it looks like my 17" arms wont work with the drop brackets. Will the arms fit on the 6.5 lift by themselves?i know the ride will suck, but I'm going to long arms soon. So I'll save some money if i don't need brackets.

Yes they will.

So my shocks will be here tomorrow, and I will be ordering the hack n tap + seal Friday (from what I've been told that's what I need to make the HnT work on a 92, although I never verified it with my auto trans/t case, do I need to?) Also, besides brake lines, do I need anything else to put this lift on? Control arms should and hopefully fit on there without anything else, HD tie rod will be put on later, as well as a drop pitman. I plan on ordering new u-bolts for the leafs. Am I missing anything?

And what areas do I need to spray with PB blaster before I do this? I plan on doing it within the next day or so, after I clean the underside. Just the mounting areas for the shackles and whatnot?

Cheers

If your going to have to remove your control arms to get the coils in/out spray them down, spray leaf mounts down, and shackle mounts. And upper and lower shock mounts, specifically the rear upper mounts.

Not sure how I forgot about the shocks! I'm sure I would have remembered eventually! haha As far as nuts and bolts, do I need anything else besides the new u bolts? Is there a kit that has replacement bolts or a list of what I should buy just in case?

Am I forgetting anything? Parts or prep wise? Is it worth it to replace my control arm bushings? Or will it not affect the ride that much due to the angles?

Thanks man

So I'm buying the hack n tap Friday. I was wondering where the best place would be. I was thinking IRO, but it's 5-7 days to ship, then another couple days to arrive.

I came across this: http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/feat...bound-offroad/ which is cheaper than IRO, since it includes the seal for my 92, all for $99, where as the seal from IRO is an additional $40.

Anywhere else? Does Dirtbound have decent shipping?

It says right on that website by checkout that 95 and older is additional $60. :dunno: IRo will also sell you a refurb driveshaft for cheap so you dont have to worry about looking for one.

I don't see any hack n taps ;). A full SYE is a bit too much for me too btw. I will however check out your lighting section, since I plan on adding some aux lights down the road.

Yeah, I saw that :/. I'm just going to go with IRO's. How do I find the price of the refurbed driveshaft? Is that the $289 option on their page?

Thanks, guys

I just went to their website. They might have discontinued that option. It used to be right where you pick if you want a custom dshaft or a refurb. The price used to be 200 for hack n tap and driveshaft combo. You might have to look somwhere else I guess.

Aw, damn! That would have been great! I'll look around and see what I can find. Maybe email them? Or should I not even try?

I dont know. I know they were stingy with the driveshafts. I tried buying just the driveshaft once to replace my front one and they wouldnt sell it to me unless I baught it with a SYE as a combo. So the supply was probably scarce to begin with.

Bah, alright. I think a buddy of mine has a driveshaft (off his XJ), that he's no longer using. I should be able to use that, right?
