4wd conversion '92-'01?
I have recently acquired my first jeep. It's a 2001 limited Cherokee 2wd. I like the jeep but really wish it was a 4x4. My pops has a 92 4x4 with a bad motor that I can have for free. My question is, can I pull all the necessary gear off the 92 and use it on my 01? I was thinking I would need the transmission, transfer, front axle, prop shafts and all linkages. I am not sure about any wire harness or computer issues I might run into. Advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I searched but came up empty on the model year difference issue.

Alright. I've collected everything I need to make this happen. I have another '01 with a bad motor. Plans are to convert my DD and then fix the motor in the silver XJ, put all the 2wd parts in and sell it on the cheap to the guy helping me.
Before I picked this up I collected a HP Dana 30 and an NP 242 t-case. Extra parts are always good but if you are near me and need either PM and we can work something out. I like to barter too.

I'm in process of pulling the tranny. The manual says to mark the relationship of the torque converter to the driveplate so they can be installed in the same position. Since the tranny is going into a different jeep, how necessary is that step? Is it really going to make a difference as long as I get it bolted up?
