Default 4 in country lift

I have a 98 with a 4 in lift with 33s.

In 4wd and only 4wd, I get a shaking/knocking from front end (feels like passenger side).

Also when I go forward, there is an occasional clank. It's worse on a hill or heavier acceleration.

Ideas? At first I thought TC chain. But the braking through me off.

I jacked up the front and tried to move the tire left right and top. There was no play. Is there a different way?

And if it was u joints, wouldnt it do it on 2wd as well?

Straight. I am familiar with the knocking in turns. Straight in forward and reverse.

With a 4in lift, would there be any need to adjust the linkage or anything like that? It had been working but maybe over time something happened.

Is there any way to check the chain without removing the TC cover?

Oh, I do here some rubbing type sound when 4 wheel is engaged.

It might have something to do with the driveshaft angles and such. With a 4 in lift your getting close to a tcase drop

Well. Convinced it is the chain. Are there any good how-to guides? I have the repair manual for the np231 but like the guides people make.

You can look up SYE kit instructions (not a hack n tap type). This will show you how to strip down the Tcase and remove the chain
