Okay, I will test for any combustion gasses in the antifreeze as that is easy to do. What would be the easiest way to check if it is due from oil? There was no smoke in the exhaust. Or could it possibly that I am using the incorrect spark plugs and should use some hotter ones? Thanks for all the help

I actually have to run colder plugs in my Stroker... The regular/hotter XJ plugs foul pretty quick and it doesn't like to idle very well. Even with colder plugs, I run a tad bit lean so obviously ours are not the same.
Mine ran pretty rough at first... Up untill I got the break-in oil and first change out of the way.

So today's update:
I put in the hotter spark plugs gapped at .035 and it ran for about 20 seconds really rough and then died. I pulled the plugs right away and could smell a lot of gas. So I checked my MAP and dumb me didn't route the vacuum line well and it melted during the camshaft break-in. So I replaced the vacuum line correctly this time. I allowed the gas to evaporate, reinstalled the hotter spark plugs and tried again. It ran rough and didn't like to idle for about 5 minutes or so, then it started to run rougher so I turned it off. I looked at the spark plugs and they aren't super fouled but a bit fouled up (except for #6, it was fouled up more than the rest). So I am going to order new colder RC9YC4 plugs and try again with the A/F ratio sensor installed this next week once I have time.
Does anyone have any other thoughts or ideas to try? Slow progress but at least it is still progress so I am not getting too frustrated yet haha.

Do you still have the stock TB/ air intake?
I run lean with cold plugs and 24# injectors with a 62mm bored TB.
Also are you running premium fuel?

I still have the stock renix intake and TB. I want to replace them with the set that came with the 96 engine I got for the build at some point but haven't made a TPS adaptor yet. I tried the 24# injectors and they fouled up my spark plugs in under 2 minutes. Yeah, I put in a tank of premium right before I did the engine swap.

Alright, so between work and other projects I haven't worked on this as much as I should have.
So I ordered the A/F ratio sensor and when getting ready for it decided to replace my cracked exhaust with a new one. I ordered the APN header and welded on a flexible pipe on the cross-over pipe. I knew that the APN header wont work with my Renix intake so I put on the intake from the 95 head that I used for my stroker. I have two questions:
1) Can I attach the vacuum line from my MAP to one of the ports on the intake now that I am using the 95 throttle body?
2) I have read threads on how people have made adapters to use the Renixs TPS on the later throttle bodies but I just want to check to see if anyone knows if there is one that I can just buy.
I think i will make one with a 3D printer at work but i was blissfully hoping that somebody just makes one even that I am sure nobody does.
Thanks!

I hope you ordered a wideband O2 sensor rather than the cheap ones. The wideband O2 will actually tell you the A/F ratio rather than whether it's running open or closed loop (which doesn't really matter)

Yeah, I got a wideband Bosch 4.9 LSU O2 sensor with the AEM digital gauge. So hopefully that will work well once I actually run the engine.

Slow progress but I am narrowing down all of my issues. I have everything finally connected and ready with the new intake and exhaust manifolds. I used the 703 injectors, turned it on, idled super rough for a few seconds and then died. The spark plugs were definently soaked with gas. I put on my old stock injectors, it ran a little bit better but it still eventually dies and I am running CRAZY rich with gas (AFR is 10.8 to 11.2).
So I checked fuel pressure, spark, my MAP and for leaky injectors which are all looking great. The next thing I did was an intake manifold vacuum check and I am only getting 5 to 8 inHg which is not even close to the 17 inHg i hoped to see.
I made sure all of the intake and exhaust manifold bolts were tight, checked the TB and checked all the manifold ports which check out good. So I don't think there are any leaks on or with the intake manifold.
So I guess my question is if I missed a tooth or so when I installed my timing chain, could the valves be throwing off the vacuum and if so, is there a good way to test it?
Thanks again guys

Only issue I had with mine was fuel timing with how the distributor was stabbed. After that runs great. I read that the renix system is far more finicky than the later setup too.
I'm running stock injectors 23.2# on my 4.5L stroker for what it's worth
You got stock cam?
