Default 4.56 gears on 33s?

Couple questions. 1, is 4.56 gears good for 33's? and 2, will it increase, decrease, or not affect my gas milage?

it should slightly increase MPG. when I regear I'm going to run 4.56 also, somewhere on here someone posted a pretty good gear ratio calculator, 4.56's with 33's will be just a bit more torquey then stock tires with 3.55's

ok, as long as I'm not getting worse. Just put some Sh***y 33s on and I'm getting 11 mpg.

The gear ratio will really depend on what trans you have.

4.10s on 33s with a manual trans is near stock. 4.56 on 33s with an auto is near stock.

Yeah, I've got 12.5 wide tires. fattt. I mean I've got a cold air and new injectors and a tb spacer and just order a bored tb and I'm still only getting 11 mpg. Somethings got to be wrong. I know I'm working it pretty hard to get these tires rolling, but it shouldn't be that bad. hoping new gears will help me back to 15 or 16.

I doubt it'll increase that much, 33's still are a lot more rolling mass then 215's or 225's

Most people run 4.56 gears with 33s. If you plan to go with bigger tires later I would wait till you decide on a final tire size so you don't have to regear more thn once

I'm running 4.56's and 33s and i can turn em over pretty good offroad and keep up with traffic. Hills are a cake walk now also. I'm unsure on gasmileage due to my speedometer not working but i seem to fill it up less often. But my jeep only sees city roads maybe 2 times a week then i'll wheel it on weekends. IMO 4.10s and 33s would not be deep enough.

And i'm refering to an automatic trans.

None of you are stating what trans you have.

Stock gearing for a MANUAL is 3.07. Stock gearing for an AUTO is 3.55.

Jumping to 4.10 is basically the same for a manual as going with 4.56s in an auto.

I'm running 4.56s with 33s and an AX-15. If I had it to do again I think I would go 4.10s. I turn more RPMs at highway speed (75MPH) than I would like. Gas mileage sucks worse (14-15) than when I first had the 33s with 3.73s.

I think 4.30s would be perfect for 33s for me.
