4.5" lift on 33s.....stock drivetrain
Looking at purchasing a 4.5" lift and 33s. Also looking at Aussie lockers. So you know of course the front is a Dana 30 but my rear is the chryco 8.25. So here is the question....how reliable would it be with stock gear and stock axles....I understand the weak point will be axles but I've heard so many diff. things about re gearing? Can I get some help here?

A good regear to either 4.10 or 4.56 is in order. Until that time, you can run the 33's on the stock gears. Just the engine and transmission work a little harder to get the Xj up to speed.

Id look into the larger ujoint axle shafts for the front. The smaller ujoints snap like nothing honestly. Also re gear it to 4.56 at minimum Id say.

That's the same set up I run, I've been with stock gears for a year now. It's a pig going up hills and on the highway, but regearing is absolutely the best upgrade you can do after upgrading tire size. I'm doing my gears in February. For the time being you'll be fine, it's just going to shift and accelerate differently
