Ya that's what im saying there's nothing wrong with the setup. My mishaps were alcohol induced at our camping spot. People preach what they read not what they know.

I did the D30 on 35's for a year. now I know I want a different pair of axles. but I never would've known that without building the D30 and learning. the setup is strong enough. but the brakes are WEAK and the stock steering is the worst

if you're out breaking things consistently on 35's and a polished D30 then you really need to re-evaluate your driving habits. it took me a year to break mine

I run a dana 30hp with OEM 4.10's and spartan locker... I swapped to the larger 297 shafts (it was a disco axle) and i run 35's... Beat it pretty good and not a single problem yet... Its not trussed and i dont even have a diff cover on it... It does have WJ knuckle conversion but thats a bit unrelated... As long as your not planning to jump it and floor it when crawling rocks youll be fine... Drive smart...

Thanks for the info everyone!
I think I will run the setup for a while see where it gets me.
Since I am new to wheeling I think I will be fine with it for the time being

And for reference this is what I was talking about, inner sleeves to help strengthen the axle tubes.

would the C-gussets be worth it?

rear discs would be significant too. everything helps. I wasn't happy with the stock stuff but I didn't do anything about it

in actually planning on running the same setup. hpd30/c8.25 locked front and rear, sleeved d30, looking to upgrade to 4.56 gears and was wondering also if it could handle a bit of abuse from 35s..im willing to upgrade steering, brakes and shafts. just need to know if its worth it. i don't treat my rig like a bouncer, but at times i might give it a bump and some speed when crawling up hill
