35 backing plates fit 44?
Will my 2001's dana 35's backing plates and drums fit the 87 xj dana 44 i just purchased? This would save me a lot of money if possible.

The backing plates will fit if you drill the centers out to a larger size. You will probably have issues with the brakes though. I believe the Dana 44 is a 10" drum while most Dana 35's are a 9".
I ended up swapping a set of rear disc brakes from a Dana 35 to a Dana 44 a few weekends ago on a buddies Wrangler. The hole needs to be drilled out from 2.75" to 3" to clear the bearings.
Personally, I would just get new brakes for the Dana 44 or swap over to disc if you can find a Grand Cherokee set.
