31x12.5 Swampers
Tried posting in the lift and tire thread with no replies, so here it is. Im looking for specifically 31x12.5's and came across the super swampers below, just wanted to get some opinions...or is there any better 31x12.5's out there? Or would 32x11.5's be a better solution, i just figured the smaller but wider tires would give me better traction and not worry about rubbing with the taller tire. Any opinions or pics would be greatly appreciated.

It really depends on what ya do??? I run 31x11.5 TSL's & they are great on rock, but ice, dirt, & sand they suck! my buddy runs 31x10.5 procomp xterrains, the rubber seems a little stiff & slick... just my .02
if I did it all over again I'd skip 31"s & go strait for some 33"s! Granted your not running the D35

Thanx a ton for all the comments.
And for what i do. Ok first its my dd so a lot of road and a bit of highway, but i have a quite a bit of trails here in S.D that i plan on exploring come summer, and here its some rock, mostly dirt and mud. Im more into getting an aggresive tire because im planning on running it in some mud bogs this summer, and running them come next winter. I dont plan on doing A TON of flexing and crawling being its my only vehicle and i cant afford to break it or trash it, at least until i get another vehicle for backup.lol

wider will rub before taller is your not cut up front. remember jeeps have very narrow wheel wells and you run turning lock to lock. start cutting and run a 33 10.5. IMO unless your a mudder 12.5s are to wide in tires under 35inchs tall

Irongrave: i completely understand what your saying and i'd much rather do that, but my only problem is my wheel is really wide im not positive how wide but im guessing 12" and with the 10.5's i have on now look dorky as ever because the tire has to bow out to fit the wheel and i cannot afford new wheels and tires.lol and i really dont plan on crawling with the jeep for a quite awhile or at least until i get a spare vehicle so i dont have to worry about breakin the jeep. So at this moment in time i will most likely be putting it in mud bogs and running just average trails nothing to wild....YET.lol

If you don't mind noise. I had a set and they're the loudest tires I've heard, up there with the swampers. But other than that they're great.

I have a set of the swampers on my 88 and they do great offroad, but a little rough and loud on the street. My 2001 has the pro comp at's and they ride really good and are quite, but wouldn't be a good choice for mud bogs! The swampers definatelly look cooler I think!!!

Well ya i understand that, but i dont want to buy an $800 set of tires that im gonna run a couple hundred miles on the street and their gonna be shot.lol
PS.Thats why a few posts ago i was wondering if the pro comps where a little more road friendly than the swampers. Im not looking for the most aggressive mud bogging tire.lol im just looking to get a good aggressive set of 31x12.5 tires that get around real good in mud and snow but yet will last awhile on the road. I know its just a crappy size because not many tires companies offer them, but im sure thats what will fit my jeep and wheels best along with what i do in my jeep, without doing a lot of modifying.
