Im sure if i cant i can find someone who can. Im just dreaming right now. i want a v8 in my XJ. And i figured if im going to do that i want the old muscle sound and feel as well. I can take it to a custom shop and pay an arm and a leg if need be.

If that's the case use a SBC for the swap and make all the HP you would ever want cheaper by far than the old 318 and smaller in size. There are a lot of swap kits for the Chevy engines and trans swaps by far.

A 5.2 (318) from a zj would actually be a really easy swap and I'm sure the motor mounts could be modified to work in xj. Just grab complete trans motor wiring harness and computer. Be a lot cheaper than adapting a Chevy. 318s can be built for good power.
My opinion though.. built a 4.0 stroker and have same power as 318 with less weight and effort.

There is a guy on my local forum that did one. Never seen it. Mine has a small block Chevy and have been dding it for 2 years.
BTW, those 4.0's are heavy. It was heavier than my small block.

I'm sure your Chevy motor may be lighter.. maybe but 5.2 + trans not so much.

Really though its about the effort involved. Stroker all the way.

MEH....
Money is no object? Then throw a checkbook at it. Post up results of your build.
I have a 4.6 stroker. Love it.
Wouldn't mind a vortec swap someday...maybe next build...

In the end it's still just lipstick on a pig. You say money is no object, so grab your checkbook and talk to Lingenfelters, have them make something special.
