3" Rusty's Kit - need TC Drop??
Sorry guys, I'm sure this has been covered and I've been searching, but can't seem to find a definite answer... this being my first lift I just want to ask and make sure.
I'm thinking about ordering the 3" Rusty's kit for my 98' within the next week and wanted to see what people thought of it and if I need anything else... TC Drop, etc? I'm sure an SYE would not necessary for only 3" right? I can deal with minor vibration, but don't want to mess anything up long term either. What about a new track bar? Control arms? Shims to correct for drive angle? I know Skyjacker has them attached to the rear leafs, not sure about Rusty's. All the "kits" seem to come with an array of different parts, just trying to make sense out of it all.
I'm assuming most of this stuff is for lifts over 3" which is part of the reason I don't want to lift it more but I want to make sure so I know what I'm getting into. Just want some "real world" info. thanks

I have haerd good things about the Rustys lift. I would call them and see what they recommend. As far as I knoe you dont need a TC drop. I had a 3 inch on mine when i bought it and it didnt have a TC drop. Sill had the stock drive line also. had no problems out of it.

I've got the Rusty's 3" and love it. I have noticed though that many 97+ XJ's need a tc drop, even with just a 3" lift, while 84-96's don't. I ended up needing a 1" drop for mine (a 99). That's the only thing you'll possibly need for it. Arms, shims, and track bar are NOT needed. Put the lift on, drive it a little and see if you get any rear drive shaft vibrations. If you do, go ahead and do a 1" tc drop. You don't want ANY drive line vibrations. If you are getting vibrations and don't fix the issue (drive shaft angle), you'll go through u-joints every few months.
