3" Rough Country lift side effects
Hello,
I installed a 3" Rough country lift. It included rear leaf springs, front coils, 4 shocks, and I also installed new non adjustable lower control arms. The axle didn't seem to shift side to side to badly. I measured from the frame to the outside of tread and it's a 1\4" difference. I do have approximately 1\4 tow in when measuring front and back of tires. I have never had vibration issues before the lift. I am now. I took it for a drive and seems to vibrate. When talking to a tech at Rough country they said 3" and below lifts, other components can remain stock.
Please help.
George.

I thought it was supposed to be 1/16" - 1/8" toe in. 1/8" being for 32"+ tires.
You might also check that your front axle is centered.
I'm guessing that it sits slightly to the drivers' side. You will probably have to adjust your track bar.

On the 97+ XJs, the rear output was changed. The earlier ones could take a good 6" of lift without vibes if you got the pinion angle right. But with the design change, just 3" lift is enough to move the yoke out far enough it will get sloppy and cause that vibration. Your only solutions are a slip yoke eliminator, the best option and a trans drop which works but is not the greatest

You can re drill your lower track bar mount to the right, which should center your axle a bit. There should be a few youtube vidoes about it.
Just to add:
Normally you see the stock track bar mount re-drilled to fix death wobble. Sometimes the stock hole gets reamed out from heavy use, and this causes slop in the track bar.
What should work:
Remove the track bar from the axle mount
Shake the vehicle side to side, then jump up and down on the front bumper to center the axle
Check that the axle is centered. If it isn't try persuading it a little
When it is on center (under its own weight) place the track bar back in the lower mount and re-drill the hole where it lands.
Loosely estimating it should be about 7/16" to the right of the original location (center to center).
I'm not sure what size the hole is supposed to be. You will have to find that on your own.
