Default 3 inch lift with long arm lift kit?

So I'm wanting to go from a 3 inch lift to a 4.5 with the long arms. I love how they look but at the price I think I could stick with 3 inches but I really want the long arms. Is there a way to get the long arm kit to work with 3 inches or do I have to go to 4.5

Another issue is buying a full kit gives me a bunch of stuff I've already installed that would be hard to sell and it kinda justifies using spring spacers and such.

Talking about rough country lifts but will be open to other long arm lifts

ive put together my 3 link on 3.5 currently. Need to see what happens to the rear after "no lift" relocators and new shackles, but I want to stay at 3.5". Need to weld on stiffeners whenever they arrive to. then its going together.

I built my arms to fit. Believe me its a tight fit for this lift size and few companies make anything thatll fit this. SFR or similar might. any bigger 3link will be questionable.

What size tires will you run?

I'm just wanting to do long arms with out spending 3x what I paid for the jeep. Even if there is a cheaper option and it lifts higher I'm cool. But the tire size is 31x10.50x15 if I stay 3 inch. And 4.5 I'll probably stay the same or possibly go up to 33x10.50 or 33x12.50

There is NO REASON to use long arms on a 3" lift. A properly set up short arm 4.5" lift can ride very good.

Boogie man that is your opinion and nothing more.

My opinion is that whatever the length arms the flatter the better. Lower lIft plus long arms equal yumm.yummy.
that's my opinion.

You may have to message body with a sledge hammer to clear upper arms. Specifically drivers side..

I'm on 2" minus lift and thinking about kicking off my long arm build. My axle side brackets are raised 1.5" my arms will be flat flat

Anything is possible .
I'm not satisfied with ride or control arm angles at less than 2" of lift . I'd be disgusted with 4.5" on street and off road would suck.
but thts my opinion lots say theyres ride and wheel well ummmmmmm hmmmm.

You only need 3 inches for these.

If you don't like the ride with a 2" lift, you should probably look for a different vehicle or a newer XJ. My XJ rides as good as stock and it's because of the shocks. I can't expect it to ride any better. An XJ will never be an Escalade. NOBODY on the TJ forums use long arms and they ride great and use the same length arms. That's what adjustable control arms are for. My TJ rides better than my XJ only because it doesn't have leaf springs in the rear. To each their own. Like I tell everyone on Jeep Forum, it's your Jeep and you can do anything you want to it. Maybe long arms with no lift, cut the fenders and add some 22" chrome wheels. I don't build my Jeeps to suit other peoples needs or opinions. Nobody should. You can put long arms on a stock Jeep if you want to. It still won't ride any better until you ditch the leaf springs. Shocks make or break ride quality. My Rubicon rides smooth as butter. Good luck.

Never said my jeep rides better or worse than yours. Yes shocks play a huge factor I have a recent Fox addiction.

I couldnt give an opion on TJ's though I feel theyd ride similar to an xj even factoring considering leaf springs.

I've road in few 4.5 lifted xjs and man I dont want any part of that. I'm sure they could get better coils shocks steering track bar but the fact is the angles never get any better and the choppy feeling stays

To the op
I like the looks of the iron rock 3 link. Boogie man is right it is still a jeep but being yours will be low on long arms it will in my opion be better riding on street and handle off road better than most.

You have some nice jeeps boogieman and maybe they ride ok but no way do I believe they wouldn't ride better with long arms. It's physics man.

that's a fact.
your factory lift sets arms parallel to the ground. Lift your rig and the ride changes period. Nothing will ride smoother than arms parallel.

now introduce long arms to your 3" lift and you'll be pretty close to this, but damn 3" doesn't give much room to flex before drivers side hit the body. Can't say if a radius arm prevents this at all. The fuel line is right there too, perhaps it can be re routed?

Better than stock??? Maybe for street use. Long arms and rocks don't mix well.

Adjustable arms and much better shocks is the solution, unless you like your buddies laughing while you're stuck on rocks and holding up the group. Like I said, it's your Jeep. Get some long arms and some 22" chrome wheels and be happy. It's your Jeep.

People will debate but you don't often see the debate as strongly I favour of short arms as bogie man does.
theres for sure cons to any length arms cool part is I'm building my rig for me not boogie man. And well that brown xj is literally chrome street rig nothing wrong with that.

I can see long arm brackets getting hung up specially in reverse. The front side is framed fro axle to bracket..
I'm excited to get my front axle in. I've raised brackets so I'll have arms 1/2" within factory angle.

I could see guys who play in the rocks slot running less lift more fender cutting and short arms .
me I'm choosing live with long arm cons to get what I feel are more pros than cons

What are you hoping to gain by getting long arms for a 3" lift?

Build a rock crawler if you want to play on the rocks. What are these much better shocks you speak of that make a bad control arm angle ride so well? OME and Fox both know how to build a great shock.
