Did you adjust the steering wheel afterwards.

Yes you probably need a new trac bar and yes you need to do an alignment.

Camber is not adjustable on solid axle vehicles. Was caster within spec?

Track bar and drag link should be parallel for the least amount of bump steer. Can you post a picture of the front end?

i will post a pic tomorrow in the am.. thank you very much! and also my steering is really sloppy now like there's a ton of play.it feels like i have to turn the wheel a little before it even turns. it was nice and tight before the lift even with all the jacked tie-rods and ball-joints.

A lifted xj will never drive like stock again. When you take a pic of your steering from the front tomorrow well let you know what's good

Stock alignment setting are useless on a lifted vechicle toes only part that's similar ...a few degrees can make a big difference. http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAlignment.htm

This is true. Need shop that use to lifted vehicles. Machines don't compensate for it. I remember my pops doing mine. Used the computer as a base guide and let his skill do the rest. Man doesshe drive nice

Do you have aftermarket longer control arms? If not it will tend to drift because your caster is out. Shims can be used, about an eight inch for a 3" lift to bring this back to spec. Not sure on the sloppy steering change. I know mine always had sloppy steering, was fixed by carefully adjusting the steering box. Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth and follow the movement from the steering shaft to the gearbox to the pitman arm, drag link, and tie rod. If you see the body tends to move when first using the steering wheel check the track bar bushings.

With upgraded suspension components and steering it will drive better than stock, mine does even with the caster a bit off and worn upper control arm bushings. Biggest problem with jeeps are the crappy stock track bars and inverted y steering.
