I believe that one is for the 4.0 YJ also but I don't see it listed for a ZJ. The 4.0 ZJ had two different ones, the max cooling which and standard duty, and it seems like all of the ones listed for the ZJ are now the max cooling ones, you want the standard duty one for the XJ. I assume that the 4.0 YJ, 2.5 XJ, and 4.0 ZJ standard duty fan clutches are all the same.Originally Posted by EZEARL
NAPA fan clutch #TEM 272318 is the std duty one used on 4.0 XJ's. A hvy duty one #TEM 272310 is standard on 2.5 XJ's. That's the one some owners switch to.https://www.napaonline.com/en/search...rer=vehicleAdd

I didn't look up which one a 4.0 YJ takes. The 2.5 XJ takes the hvy duty one (272310). 10 or so yrs ago I tried one from a ZJ but the length of the shaft put it too close to the radiator. Can't remember who it was that turned me on to #272310 but it fits just like the oem one that it replaced on mine. Just moves more air. Having said it before I believe with an oem cooling system in top condition the std duty fan clutch is all that's needed.

When I replaced mine I compared it with the ZJ and noticed the bit of shaft length difference. When I tried to install it I couldn't get it mounted without touching the radiator. No problem getting either the OEM or HD 2.5 mounted though.

I am a little late on this, but there is something that pulls more air. The Taurus 3.8L 2 speed electric fan pulls 3800 cfm on high speed. Whereas the XJ stock fan pulls about half of that. Just saying for the sake of discussionOriginally Posted by freegdr
Nothing pulls more air than factory set up.

if you want to do and electric e-fan id suggest doing a volvo fan swap into the factory shroud, worked pretty well when i still had the 4.0l
I have a 4.6 stroker and factory cooling...in the deserts of California. Works just fine.

clutch fans can suck up to 10-15 hp
e-fan will give you more hp at the wheels and withthe right fan you likely wont see worse cooling
