You're going to adjust camber on the XJ? Good luck, that will require some fancy ball-joint work. What kind of a kit are you buying? The only things you can adjust are caster and toe-in. At 3.5", you likely won't be able to get the caster shimmed to where you would like. (Maybe around 4*, where ideal would be about 6*) You can shove the control arm mount forward with shims, and it will help, but it won't be ideal. You'll probably want to look at getting some longer (adjustable recommended) lower arms.

If camber is that bad something is bent, ball joints are BAD, or bad bearing(s).

Caster may be out, but doesn't really matter, won't cause tire wear. Depending on the arms you get, you can adjust caster, or you can get some adjustment by shimming the sleeve @ the control arm mount

Toe will be the big one, which is fully adjustable, so big deal

Right- you won't run out of toe adjustment with the lift. With caster, you will run out pretty quick with the stock arms. And IMHO, caster is pretty important- trying to drive 70 miles a day on 0* caster (4.25" lift for me), you realize how important it really is.
