2WD conversion
im looking at a either 2000 or 2001 XJ that is spotless, i mean this is the nicest jeep ive ever seen with my own eyes, the only two problems...
1) its 2WD
2) it has 230,xxx miles on it
Now im not worried about the miles bc i know that if taken care of the ticker in an XJ will go for well over 300,xxx. that being said would i be able to use the tranny, axle, and transfer case thats in my 96 to convert it to 4WD.
I have the AX-15 tranny in it, dana 30 HP front axle and the NP231 transefer case. Would all these parts be compatible? Thanks alot!

I did a 4x4 conversion to mine, its easy and everything bolts on. Did you try searching for year compatibility? The reason the 2000's were low pinion front axles is to make room for the exhaust. I dont see why the 96 AX15 trans wouldnt work, maybe have to swap a connector or two. I would also look at the speedo differences between the two jeeps for the transfer case.
