Default 255/75 R17s on Stock XJ

So, I just got a 2001 XJ. I had one in High School. Here I am, 8 years later and just as excited as I was when my parents gave me the first one.

My question is, with trimming, and 1.25 wheel spacers, can I run 255/75 R17s on a stock height XJ?

Been looking through these forums but haven't found anything specific enough. Thank you in advance.

You can run whatever you want if you trim enough. Keep in mind, you would typically need about a 4.5 inch lift to clear those without trimming. So you will have to trim a bit. Those are 32s

Are you aware of any pictures of a stock height XJ running these tires with trimmed fenders?

Try google. Why don't you put a small lift on?

They will take up the entire wheel well. Completely haha.

Do you plan to take your jeep offroad? And your dead set on those rims and tires? Idk to me 235s fill up plenty of the wheel well on a stock Cherokee, considering that's the basically the biggest size you can go at stock height.

Only off-road stuff will be dirt roads to and from the deer woods. Nothing insane by any means...

Yea, my goal is to run the newer style Rubicon 17's. I like the look of trimmed fenders so this doesn't bother me... I guess I'm just curious about how much trimming will have to be done.

I don't want my jeep looking like a trail rig by any means. Something like the XJ below is right up my lane.

You like that xj? Looks like it's squatting on all 4s haha. Or if it has a lowering kit. No offense man really, I personally hate the way it looks haha. Different tastes you and I, buy hey that's great! Diversity! But If that's what you like man then go for it. It's your jeep do what you want and what your vision is. We'll all help with any questions you have man. Your looking at a daily driver type build?

Edit: looking at it again, it's kind of like a low cog type rig. But idk, for some reason it looks really "stanced" with 32s at stock height. I've seen 35s, might have been 37s, at 3 inches of lift but for some reason this looks way different.

did you find that pic on google images?

Haha! Yea, it takes all types

I can't tell if it's just trimmed or if it has a lift? Thanks for your help thus far.

When you do proceed, make a build thread. I'll sub. Don't think I've seen something like what you want to do so it'll be cool to see.

At first, I thought it had a budget boost, but looking at the rear of the jeep, it looks about stock height. If it does have a lift it's no higher then 1.5 inches. Hopefully someone chimes in with their opinion as well. Though the site is kind of dead at this time. It'll pick up in the morning.

I personally think it has a spacer in the front and is stock height in the rear.
Looks almost to have a slight squat.

The trimming on that one is just cut and folded on the rear fender and same type of trim up front.
If you remove the flare you can see the stamped line they followed.

That should be the same size tire as you're wanting to run.
You will have to run some extended bumpstops to keep from damaging anything.

Edit:
Looking at it some more, I don't think youll be able to effectively bumpstop.
You'd have no up travel in the rear.

Any specific bumpstops you'd recommend for front and rear?

For the front I recomend these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001G...ront+bump+stop
Or
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001G...6bL&ref=plSrch
Which one you need will depend on the diameter of your bumpstop receptacle inside your coil spring.
If you need more, you'll have to add it to the axle side.

The rear only has one option unless you build something:

Used with these:

You know those jk rims are a different lug pattern then your jeep is right ?You can use adapters but good ones your looking 200 bucks for 4 plus the cost of the rims and tires. For what your gonna spend to get it you can run any aftermarket rim you want. And also a bigger rim with a smaller tire is gonna ride rougher then a smaller rim with a bigger tire.Part of your ride is the size and stiffeness of the sidewalk of the tire.

I realize all of this, thank you... where are you shopping that charges 200 dollars for 4 adapters? That's really high...
